How we met

You can find anything on the internet

A few weeks into Lockdown #1 saw David and Adriana both living at home with their parents. David had recently moved back to Indiana and was looking for a place of his own, and Adriana had decided she'd rather shelter in place with company than alone in her own house. One night, sitting in their childhood bedrooms, they opened up Bumble and saw a reasonably attractive blond(e) looking back at them. Two swipes and an inspired opening line about a coati David found on a recent trip to Mexico later, their story had begun. Their first date was in the backyard of the first home they shared, chaperoned by Adriana's family dog, Floyd. They walked to Half Liter and brought back barbecue, in retrospect a great decision so that David could distract Floyd with a bone long enough to steal a pandemic-unapproved kiss. They both knew then that they had found someone special, and under the guise of quarantining together, they decided that David should move in somewhere around Date #4. He now advises all of his single friends to find a girlfriend with a mortgage.

How we got Otter

Every new relationship needs a puppy

Adriana and David had been dating/living together for about a month when her mom called, frustrated that Adriana's dad had gotten not one, but two puppies during quarantine. The younger puppy, Otter, was causing no end of chaos and so Adriana and David offered to babysit him for a few days. A few days turned into a few weeks, and Otter stayed. After she returned home from a trip to find that David had replaced Otter's pet-store food with a new organic, locally-made kibble, Adriana knew that Otter was theirs for good. Otter still causes no end of chaos, but Adriana and David love him and couldn't imagine their home without him. Whether he's pulling them down the Monon in hot pursuit of an innocent cyclist, or finally sleeping so peacefully across two thirds of their bed, Otter is Adriana and David's pride and joy and they are thrilled he'll be able to be a part of their wedding.

How we got engaged

Adventure buddies forever

David frequently has to remind Adriana, who is a professor of architecture, that not everyone shares her love and knowledge of buildings. But luckily for her, David has a soft spot for the work of Frank Lloyd Wright. After visiting Taliesin during a trip to Wisconsin, David suggested they look into going to see Fallingwater and Adriana enthusiastically agreed. On November 7th, they woke up and David drove them to Bear Run, PA, a ring box tucked into his left sock the whole time. They arrived at Fallingwater and took a private tour of the property, finally ending up across the creek with a breathtaking view of the house. Adriana was so focused on taking pictures for an upcoming lecture that it took David two tries to get her to turn around and take her mask off. When she finally did, he kissed her and dropped to one knee. He asked, "Will you be my adventure buddy forever?" . . . and she said "Yes!"
